does paying for currency for a website then using currency of said website to purchase currency in a game count?

I paid $10 for coins in Pokemon Go a few years back. Though that was more because I figured I could throw them a bone after playing for over a year.

Pokemon Go and I bought the $5 Gold in RDR2 cause I had already played enough to get everything from the outlaw pass and immediately get all my gold back from it. Was hard to pass up.

I bought some Mr. Handy boxes in Fallout Shelter a few years back, when they had a sale. Game was free to play, so spending a bit to get a convenience item wasn't bad.

I also once spent 10 or 20 bucks on an out-of-game trade currency for Diablo 2. Saved me a huge amount of time building up wealth, so I got to actually play the game instead of just grinding my life away.

I paid $30 for 2000 gold in vanilla WoW.

I think I dropped $50 on TF2 keys when I first got started playing on PC, after years of playing vanilla on X360. Considering how many keys I made afterwards, though, it definitely paid for itself. Hell, I bought a Robo-Sandvich and Sunbeams Hound Dog (both of which I still have) for over 100 keys apiece. I hear the economy's taken quite a tumble in the past several years, though, so I'm glad I wasn't around for that.

Yes but not a lot. When I was really into Path of exile, I bought some extra sorted stash tabs. Was super worthwhile even though I don't really play anymore (game is free to play and I spent roughly the cost of what I would expect to pay for a game like that). Also spent a small amount on in game currency in Maple story maybe 15-20 years ago. Got a hairstyle and color that I wanted and that's about it but it was worth it. The free options at the time were all horrendous. My character kinda looked like a light blue haired kurt cobain lol.

Path of Exile was the last microtransaction I bought a few years ago. Shame about the stability on PS4...didn't get much use out of it.

No, but I did pay $5 to Bethesda for a loot box pack in Fallout Shelter, because that's what I thought the game was worth. Other than that, I've never bought in-game currency or other MTX.

I paid $10 for Fortnite bucks or whatever to buy a battle pass, but once you buy the first battle pass each one earns enough currency for the next one.

Not directly but I did spend real money to unlock everything in WWE games, which would've cost a lot of in-game currency.

I spent I think $10 to buy the battle pass in Apex. If you keep completing them, you get reimbursed with enough Apex coins to buy it again the next season without any additional investment. Otherwise I think I spent $5 on a skin at one point. I play all the time, so I dont feel too bad having spent $15 on the game.

Maple story was the first ever korean mmo cash shop grindfest I ever played, and yeah, I was a little hooked on maple story for awhile. I kept spending money to get hair style tickets so my character can have that ponytail (hair tickets gave random styles so you had to keep spending if you did not get lucky/ended up getting a crewcut hairstyle), cash shop clothes, for pets (and the items that let the pets pick up item and money drops, which where separate purchases, =/ ), and finally exp tickets. I used to buy those tickets that gave double exp from 10pm to 2am, and again from 2am to 6am eastern.

Yeah, I did this routinely for around 8 months'ish before I finally broke and asked myself what in the fuck am I doing with all my money and then quit maple story cold turkey. I missed out on so many games from 2004 to about 2008ish since I was playing so many mmos during that time period.

Now when it comes to non-cash shop stuff/straight up in-game money, then I bought a shark card for gta online around when it very first came out. (This was back when the basic tank was the most expensive thing in the game at that point). It was the 49.99 dollar shark card when it was on sale for 50 percent off.

I never bought one ever again.

Bought a few keys in TF2. That was it. Never again.

You buy the currency to get skins... You can use it for other stuff too from icons, TfT cosmetics, exp boosts etc. etc. Not sure why'd you try to correct people on games you've never played
