I remember one of the predators was a guy he would talk to on the train to work to something like that.

Yea he was a guy Chris rode the train with. His point was that it could literally be anybody. Chris has caught hundreds of people and only knew one, so I dont know if it was luck as much as it is a very serious problem.

It's the line a lot of them use. They usually have them call whichever family member is most important, and make them admit it to them, and if they don't say they'll call the cops. Then they let them go after they do it.

Literally every amateur YouTube predator catcher. Some of them are good and call the cops, most of them just want views so theyll say anything to get them to talk, including I wont call the copswhich even if they lie and do call the cops, that line in the video alone can help any lawyer get charges dropped.

So it's just a video of two people talking about catching someone. Yawn.

Yea I actually saw one just yesterday where the YouTubers idiotically announce to a random person what happened. That random person then punched the suspect and he ran away. Them purposely putting him in that dangerous situation can come back to them. And while all the comments were like fuck yea he deserves it!!what people dont realize is shit like that hurts police investigations. But at least they got a clickbait title out of it.

They can be if its done right. Its not entrapment. Problem is outside of Chris Hansen and a handful of others, most of these amateurs dont do it right.

They can argue that he only said what he said out of duress. A good lawyer can make it work. And it has happened. Its just not necessary. If they stay and talk, fine, if they dont and you cant get content for your YouTube who cares? Going to the cops should be more important.

Oh obviously I agree they should report it to the cops right away rather than prioritizing their stupid video, but dont they generally already have some sort of proof by the time they confront them? Like that they were planning to meet up with an underage person, just like how TCaP gets them.

There were some cases that were thrown out due to how sloppy the investigations were. The chats themselves were conducted professionally; predators making the first move, bringing up sexual content first, bringing up the idea of meeting the decoy first, etc.

The infamous "I don't even want this cookie" guy ended up having his charges dropped because he sent child abuse content to the decoy and Perverted Justice ended up sitting around with their "evidence" for so long without contacting authorities that they could have theoretically been charged with possession of it.

Didn't he catch like a 18 year old talking to a 17 year old or something like that. And people got upset with him since both people were close to the same age. Like the numbers could be way off and it could be something worse. But I remember something like this.

I guess but it depends on how a lawyer can spin it. TCAP never promised them anything, Chris never threatened them with police. He was always very careful with how he approached each catch. And the segments typically werent aired until they were charged or convicted. These stings were done directly with the police.

these YouTube people done do it like that at all.
