FFXIV ARR. I know, me, of all people, complaining about (early) FFXIV. But it's SUCH a slow boil, and once you've tasted how jobs play at max level, going back to do storyline missions (which were famously overpadded) with minimal abilities available are just painful. It's great world building in retrospect but every time I go back to the 1.0 areas to level my sub 50 jobs or get a low level dungeon or run Palace of the Dead I die a little inside.

But that could be the recent pain of getting all upgraded jobs.

Another selection is... well, probably, pick any Harvest Moon or Harvest Moonlike, or even Animal Crossing. Yes, I like the end result, but any gameplay feels like IRL chores. And yet i like them anyway- my current one is called Graveyard Keeper.

13 Sentinels and Planescape both came to mind, but it's more like the combat is just kinda there.

Lot of really old RPG gameplay did not really hold up over time :\

I am struggling for a specific example, but generally I vastly prefer turn-based to real-time anything, so there are a lot of games that I like watching but have no real interest in playing. Mega Man and Touhou I guess I'd be a lot more into if I didn't suck at them?

Ooh, another one.

Ultima 7, where the best method of combat is to strip your ranged weapons for friendly fire, throw a dirty diaper at something, and dogpile them.
