Current Events > Had a bomb threat at work yesterday.

My shift had just started and I was a little annoyed as I had to deal with 2 hateful guests in a row. A little while later the phone rings.

It's a lady, and she just says "My name is Olivia Street, and I'm coming to bomb you." I was a bit confused at first, so I asked her to repeat it. "I have a gun. I'm going to come find you and kill you, then collapse the building." I didn't really know what to say so I just said "uh-huh" and she made the threat again "I'll come assassinate you with my assault rifle, then bomb the whole building and kill everyone."
At that point I hung up on her.

I called my manager and told him some idiot just threatened to blow the place up. So, he had me call 911. I didn't want to tie up the emergency line over what I assumed was a prank call. So I tried the non-emergency number and couldn't get through. Ended up calling 911 and explaining the situation. They said that people all over town had been reporting the same call. So, I apologized for tying up the line over something so stupid, but they were thankful for the info I gave.

I told my coworker at the next door property to be aware of the call and try to get more info if they called her. Then a police officer arrived and took my statement. Told me I was 5th person to report the call. Apparently I was also the only one who thought to get the name off the caller id too, as he said that was new information they didn't have. Everything else was exactly the same. He said they believed it was 2 people making the calls. As some reported talking to a young person, and some reported it was an older one. I told him I spoke to the younger one since she sounded pretty young.

Anyways, Walmart shut down and evacuated when they got the threat. When my shift ended and my replacement showed up he was telling me all about it. Said the cops found the person and it was a 12 year old girl(so maybe I did speak with the older one after all since she didn't sound like a kid).

Turned out to just be a prank call like I thought. When the officer was there he said I might get subpoena'd to appear in court. I really hope not. :/

That seems really dumb to do in this day and age.

Even when I was in school people knew to do stuff like that from a pay phone (if they existed anymore).

Not like this isnt bad to begin with, I think that goes without saying.

Apparently they figured out it was a kid when in the middle of one of the calls a guy in the background asked what they were doing, and who they were talking to then the call ended. Guess they got caught by their dad or something. Idk if he turned them in, but that was apparently what led them figuring it out.

I wouldve assumed this was a copy pasta if almost anyone else here had posted this. Glad you didn't get blown up. Shit sounds stressful

Just in case anyone wanted an actual source. I was unaware that this had been happening for a few days. The officer implied it all happened within a couple hours yesterday. Oh well.

Well, that would be a bit tricky. I work at a hotel so it's mean putting a lot of people out in the street for the night after they paid for a room. That's why I called my manager to see what he thought I should do. Was ok with just letting the police know.

Apparently, though the officer said she wasn't alone. Everything I've heard or read since only lists the 12 year old.

These kids after all this time still haven't grasped the consequences of all this. Glad it wasn't the real thing.

How fucking bored do you have to be to do something like this lol. Get that kid a bike or something I dunno jeez.
