So I'm at ep 110, and I'm wondering what I should do about the upcoming filler. I'm not actually in a rush to "catch up." That's not necessarily the goal, and I'm not sure how I got here this quickly even when you consider the fact that you can easily cram 3 eps in an hour. The real question is if they diminish the experience. The last filler arc wasn't terrible, and I didn't even realize it was filler until I looked it up. Do these filler arcs hold up as decent or do they fall apart completely?

I feel they're all short enough that it doesn't hurt to watch them

this isn't like Naruto 85 straight episodes of filler

I dont like rainbow mist either. But yeah most the filler arcs arent bad they are just pointless. I dont think they will hurt your experience but if you are bored by the plot just look up where the filler ends and skip it.

Also one of them adds time travel so you just have to ignore things they bring up or create. (Like the crew meeting a dragon).

On the plus side later filler arcs are almost all just alternate universe gag episodes or clearly movie set ups that dont try to fit into the story.

On the down side that is because they switch to doing one chapter an episode so the pacing can be very slow.

skip all the filler except for this one. if you want to watch non-canon one piece just watch the films, they're higher quality than the anime filler

I watched it all once and didn't kill myself, but I wouldn't recommend any, even the "good" one.

Depends how much you just crave more straw hat interaction.

I get how people who have been watching for decades will say to just check them all out, but the show is way too God damn long to check out filler arcs with no plot relevance that are at BEST decent and at worst intolerable.

G-8 is the only one that hits all the right notes to be a great time despite it's irrelevance.

And yeah most of the movie are OK or good, def some losers but can't remember off the top of my head.

Most of the recent ones have been "generic shounens anime movie good", big budgets and very obviously a movie compared to some of the earlier movies which felt like long episodes.

Movie 6 is the one that stands out as the far and away best and is an entirely different beast from the rest, since it was made by Mamoru Hosoda and it shows in every way one would imagine.

Well, as I said, I'm not worried about getting caught up. It's not about if these arcs are a "waste" since the show is kind of a time dump any way. I just don't want to get caught up in some terrible trash like the previously mentioned dark times of Naruto. Pointless and not advancing the story is okay, actively making me dislike the show is not.

But it's a perfect time to catch up because due to the toei hack from last week there's not going to be any new episodes for a few weeks

I don't think I remember actively disliking any of it, but the only one I remember thinking was good is G-8. That one was a perfect example of how to do filler antagonists well. None of them have much length though.

Oh, one of the arcs also have a decent amount of filler incorporated in a way that makes it hard to skip, and I didn't like that much actually, save for some gags.
