Just not skillfully. Bad players in chess can move their pieces, but will get checkmated quickly due to not knowing how to move them properly.

Mobas are very, very popular and trendy so of course they draw in people who are clueless and remain clueless for the few games they ever play.

If you're good you should almost never see them in action because of matchmaking - unless you want to include people who are ordinarily good, on average, but make a mistake or two that you observe and based on that classify them as bad.

Mobas are typically free to play with a steep learning curve. Of course everyone sucks. But dota is better. We all suck AND hate ourselves.

Imagine playing a game of basketball and your power forward runs out of bounds constantly; your center is off texting his girlfriend all game; and the only guy that can do anything never gets the ball passed to him. That's what it's like playing on a team of shitty moba players lol.

The issue is that mobas tend to be very unforgiving. One mistake from one player can decide the game for the other 9 players.

You can play perfectly, but if the enemy assassin gets a double kill off a gank that could single handedly mean you lost that game. That you have to play for another 20 minutes.

Not to mention the balancing abomination that are 'hyper carries', aka characters designed to be able to 1 v 5 and come out on top.

Oh and certain mobas punish mistakes very harshly. It's bad enough that when you die, you give the enemy exp and gold, but some games make you lose gold for dying as well, this setting you back even further.

All of this, and in game tutorials tend to be packing, and you have a recipe for fuck ups being plentiful and far more noticable.

Compare that to raiding in an MMO, which usually requires multiple people fucking up and tends to give you more chances to fix mistakes.

Because "They can always throw".

I've seen countless games that were in the bag/doomed. Then we/they decided to do Baron for no reason and we/they get wiped and lose the game.

But also, if you at a low level, you typically don't have the game sense to know if a game is lost so early. Giving up so quickly in a 5 v 5 basically makes it a 6 v 4. Which isn't to say there aren't games where you should honestly surrender, but way too many people want to throw in the towel because someone is 0-2. Fuck those wimps.

Full disclaimer: The one time I did ranked placements in a moba I landed in Silver, so I am mediocre at best.

There's always a chance for a "comeback" especially if you can push it to the late game. Some champions work better in the late game as well. Normally it just takes 1 good teamfight to win, I've done it in the past before. But yeah 90% of the time it's a loss.

Everyone has to start somewhere, we were all newbies at one point. Hell, even between MOBAs you've got things to learn that don't always carry over to the next title.

Case in point, I've primarily played Smite and Heroes of the Storm, along with some League of Legends: Wild Rift. The perspective shifts alone, or even just the differing control schemes will force you to change up how you approach fights and objectives, and that's before getting into the other variant mechanics.

And when in doubt, or if you really need to finish that one obnoxious daily quest, there's always bot matches.

Nah, there are bad players in other competitive genres too. It's just really noticeable in mobas because of how many things can go wrong. Bad map awareness, overextending/feeding, missing skillshots, bad rotations, not rotating for objectives, failed ganks, missing last hits, etc. There's a lot to learn, even if you're good at games in general.

To be fair, most of the league terms still make sense for other mobas. I've played League, Paragon, Fault and Pokemon Unite and most people that have played mobas before, know league terms.
