I got a $35 VR headset as a gift about two years ago.
But I see some VR headsets costs about $300.
Whats the difference?
Quality?

Did the $35 one require putting your cellphone inside?

Yup

Uh... I've never tried a cheap VR but I'm guessing you're pretty limited on games to play and the quality is significantly lower.

Phone VR is simply limited in capabilities and apps/games vs a dedicated one. But for something like porn, any phone with a 865 or above chip can do 8K porn perfectly fine on it and no different than a dedicated one. Actually, some older dedicated ones can't even do above 6K.

I have an Oculus. You can download most apps on it, so you can watch streaming services like Netflix on a VR screen as large as you want to make it. There are VR games you can download or if you have a gaming computer you can link to steam and play all kinds of VR games that really feel like you're inside the game, and you get to move your arms in the game rather than use a controller. There are all kinds of 360 VR videos and mini games you can find on the browse -- you can watch VR porn if that's what you want to do. It's much better than something you put your phone in

Would I need a pc to watch movies or play games on it if I get this?

No, the Oculus works like a mini-PC on its own. You can download apps, use a web browser, etc. an do if you have Netflix, Hulu, HBO, etc you can watch movies through those.
The Oculus has a number of games you can download directly onto the device (obviously you have to pay for them, other than demos) and the internet browser has mini games you can play for free.
The only problem is the games are mostly on the level of, uh, like late Xbox generation. A bit limited, but it's still a cool experience.
If you have a gaming computer you can play much better games

To put this in perspective...
Asking what's the difference between VR for $35 and VR for $300 is like asking what's the difference between a $20 modern re-release of a Tiger Electronics portable game (in case you are wondering, yes, someone re-released those abominations this decade) and a $300 Nintendo Switch. THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE between a modern day $20 Tiger portable and a $300 Nintendo Switch!!!!

I own THREE VR headsets...

1) PS VR (which is mid-tier in quality)

2) HP Reverb G2 Windows Mixed Reality VR headset for PC (which is extremely high in quality).

3) Google Cardboard (which fucking SUCKS!!! It sucks ASS!!!)

With that said, yes, there is a HUGE difference between the cheap ass "VR" for $35 like Google Cardboard and mid-tier VR headsets like PS VR and especially high end VR headsets for PC.

Long story short, with Google Cardboard, which is literally fucking CARDBOARD, You put your cellphone into fucking CARDBOARD!!! Aside from being embarrassing, the quality of what you are seeing sucks ass compared to an actual real VR headset (for the PC VR headset I own, everything looks real and lifelike to the point where you feel like everything you are seeing is happening for real, unlike the shit Google cardboard where even in "VR" mode you still feel like you have a cellphone wrapped in cardboard strapped to your face and nothing feels real.

The old saying "You get what you pay for" applies here.
So yes, there is a HUGE difference between $35 VR and $300 VR.

Hp Reverb G2:
2,160 x 2,160 on each eye with 4K dedicated VR technology paired with high end PCs designed to create the most immersive and real VR experience possible.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/8/4/8/AAdZtZAADCTI.jpg

PS VR.
960 x 1080 on each eye with 1080p dedicated VR technology paired with Playstation 4 which despite releasing during 2016 it's still designed to create an immersive experience and some of it's games (the really good ones) will make you believe that you are really in their world.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/8/4/9/AAdZtZAADCTJ.jpg

Google Cardboard...
Google fucking cardboard...
It's fucking cardboard attached to your face. You put a cellphone (which is NOT dedicated VR technology) inside the fucking cardboard... cheap ass $1 cardboard which they charge $20 to $35 for... if you have cardboard lying around you could probably make this shit yourself and that will save you $35... and when you put the fucking cardboard on your face you hope the cardboard doesn't give you a paper cut as you see horribly attempted VR which isn't true VR.... and you hope the cardboard doesn't fucking break apart and your phone falls out and smashes to the ground.
It's fucking terrible.
And you hope no one passes by and asks you why the fuck you have a cardboard box on your face...

Now, what else can u do? Lets sayI get the PS VR, theres some games but not that many. So what else can u use it for?
Some people have mentioned netflix, theres movies in VR?
Lastly, I heard some people get dizzy or get motion sickness with VR. How can I avoid this?

With the motion sickness issues, there's a large number of VR games that either don't require you to move the character itself or has teleport movement as an option. You can try those to see if it alleviates some of the issues.
