They say she ruined the movies, sounds like they're just upset that a woman got some of the spotlight

You know why certain people were upset.

idk if it was about Jennifer Lawrence, but more about Mystique.

the movies focused too much on the character, who wasn't even that compelling, IMO.

My biggest issue wasn't with Jennifer but with her character.

In the Dark Phoenix movie she looked like a cheap cosplay. And then giving the dumb speach how Xavier never had to sacrifice anything while she is the reason he is in the wheelchair.

Well she really wasn't putting any effort in and Mystique's claim to fame in the movie verse is kind of sexy body movement action and shit, and she didn't do any of that. Whether that was the people who made the movies' choice or she negotiated something in her contract I dunno, but it was a very uneventful take on the character. Also her role in Age of Apocalypse was just baffling. I have no clue what she was doing in it. But I also can't give examples cause I have no memory of what happened in that movie in general. Holy hell it was terrible.

Her Mystique was pretty bad tbh, even in the good movies like First Class and DoFP. But I don't think it was her fault and moreso the writers.

Mystique is many things, but she's never been the spotlight, she is just super dangerous and super capable but having her strutting around as a leader was more about the fact that she was a big name than whatever thes tories this was based on would allow, I'm up for switching up the status quo but if you want to do that you cna be more organic than X big name is now the leader and has tons of screentime because thats just showbiz, it feels artificial and forced.

One thing that specifically irked me about her was the way she would be wearing her Jennifer Lawrence disguise even when she's in private with other mutants and the like who know who she is. And you just know that's because she's Jennifer Lawrence and people in charge want to use her ordinary face a bunch in the trailers--or maybe it's because she didn't like being in the makeup and negotiated a bunch of scenes without it.

But it's weird when she's surrounded by blue people but she's in disguise.

Yeah...One of her character's defining traits in the original X-Men trilogy was this attitude, too. She was talking to Nightcrawler, and he said something to the effect of: "Why don't you just look like a human all the time?"

And she said: "Because we shouldn't have to."

And it kinda feels like the Mystique from the prequels would never have become that Mystique just based on how often she stayed disguised.

Her mystiqe is absolutely nothing like source. And theyre forcing her in cause she was one of the few bigger names. And she didnt want to do it anymore.

I never hated her and I thought she brought a lot to those movies.
