I'm not a mooch though I pay half her bills. She's letting me stay here so I can save money and put a downpayment on a house I'm tired of renting. I still.feel like a loser though. Should I feel this way?

Used to be several generations would live under one roof with absolutely no shame involved. Maybe we should go back to that.

Blame capitalism for letting the housing market get as bad as it is.

My grandmother got dementia and didn't know who anyone was in her last years

She's 80 and going downhill fast she has a hard time walking and opening things because of the arthritis in her hands so I help her out alot with cleaning taking the trash out and mowing her grass. She's been very lonely since her husband died 3 years ago.

At this point if I had an opportunity to save for a year for a house I'd take it. It's slow going paying rent and saving at the same time. You'll have one before me I'm sure.

I don't think there's anything wrong with living with your parents, or family -- however, I don't think I could do it, again... I'm too comfortable with my own space.

Sounds like a good situation for both of you tbqh, although I wonder what she'll do after you move out. Either way, enjoy the time you have with her because it will really mean a lot to you someday

If i told you a lot of lennials cannot afford to live by themself would it make you feel better? Because that is the case.

No one should ever feel down about a situation like this. We do what we gotta do to make a life for ourselves, if its helping your situation and future, no shame at all.

I once saw a YouTube video that talked about an incident where a person was living in some couple's attic for months and would come down at night and drink and eat their stuff and use the sink as a toilet and climb back up in the attic when done.
