How do you feel about the whole thing?

Replaying through 2 now and on Mordin's loyalty mission. Playing paragon, but just agreed with him that it was the right call after some heavy accusations. Usually play Shepard as fully against it, but that comes off as him on his high horse and being unrealistic about the situation they were facing.

The majority offspring die right after birth, right? That would be tough.
If they just didn't get pregnant it wouldn't be so bad.

Yeah that's my biggest qualm against it. If there were a more humane way of doing it than actually carrying and birthing the stillborn child, it'd be easier to swallow. I still view that as splitting hairs though. It might carry more psychological and emotional damage, but the end results are the same.

The problem really started with the Salarians' negligence in uplifting the Krogan in the first place (just like they're trying to do with a Yahg in ME3) in order to turn them into shock troops against the Rachni.

Yeah love that domino effect. Never really learned enough about what would happen had the Krogans not been brought in to stop the Rachni. They make it out like it very well could have been the end of everything, but there's always alternatives.

It makes it kind of hard to empathize with the genophage, because we never really see the Krogans pre-genophage. We just hear about it second-hand. I could potentially see the genophage as a lesser evil, but I was never quite convinced of it.

Krogan are the best characters and comrades, so there should be more of them.

Given their aggression and birthing speed, pretty much the only option other than simply wiping them out. Pretty standard us vs them situation where nobody is going to feel good about the outcome.
