It's a weird context to put him in. Basically Sylvanas roasts a glowing ball said to be him, and then he fades permanently from existence. I don't love it.

The anduin stuff was nice enough, though.

They should retcon everything and go back to Wrath.

That just seems like a hollow shell of where WoW got to with WotLK

All I know about modern WoW is that apparently Sylvanas is the writers' pet character and this seems to reinforce that

Yeah, at some point she became the main character of note and everybody else just started acting around what she was doing. The writers really think we care about her more than we actually do, I think lol

But yeah, there's one guy who's weirdly obsessed with her

The last expansion that I played to any degree of care was Cataclysm, which IMO felt like a big step down from WotLK (although that underwater zone was a lot better than an underwater zone had any right to be). Then I very briefly tried Pandaria and thought it was hot garbage and never went back.

I miss Howling Fjord a lot.

Meh, after killing him in Wrath, Arthas lost any and all plot significance. Any time he was mentioned or involved after that felt shoehorned in.

Arthas deserved a redemption arc, IMO. But tbh I couldn't give any less of a shit about WoW lore at this point.

The character already existed, but he definitely got rewritten to become Sylvanas' weirdly loyal eternal man servant

This. There's a reason why it's a joke that whenever wow sales are starting to struggle they push the "arthas button."

I dont play anymore but yea, this cinematic is shit. Notice that his girlfriend is in the room and she knows he is dying forever, and she doesn't even say anything to him

Also shit that the writers have Sylvanas scold him before he goes, even though she is literally just as guilty as he is

If the same fate befell her, I wouldn't mind as much. The fact he is destroyed but she gets redemption is what pisses me off the most
