Seems like you are pretty selfish. Cat obviously is in pain or something that warrants the need to put them down but you are reluctant to do it because you are only thinking of your needs.

I am not reluctant to do it thanks. He is old and hurting, and it's his time. Shit just hurts because I am about to lose a pet.

But hey, I'm back to annoyed instead of sad, so I guess thanks

Had to do a dog this fall who's time had come...those are just about the suckiest days possible. It's different from people because there's a choice involved and they don't understand what is happening. And they're basically your living teddy bear.

I appreciate the condolences. Schmen is actually doing his usual fake indifference shit, but the red in his eyes indicates he is a fucking liar and is probably crying in private. Whatever, people grieve how they grieve I guess.

That is the shittiest part. You have to be willing to make the choice for them and let them go with at least some shred of dignity. I fucking hate this.

Plato is 17 years old. He was a gigantic asshole for most of his life, but is he MY gigantic asshole.

Yep. Nora was 16.5. She'd been crapping in the house for a year, her foot was rotting off with cancer (gangrene smell), she'd lost a third of her body weight and was a skeleton...but she went on a three mile walk the day before we put her down, was not visibly in pain, and loved the ice cream they gave her seconds before.

Shitty as hell.
