The first castle thing at the start of Elden Ring. Such a great area.

There's a castle later in the game that feels really badass as you're riding in

Not gonna spoil it, just know that storming the front gates never loses its magic in this game

yeah, i love getting into the legit areas like castles, caves, dungeons, etc. the open world's beautiful and all, but i'm at home digging in and scrapping it out in crypts and labyrinths and sunken cities and shit

There's an homage to the archers from Anor Londo that I appreciated

it's like peak design and i love it so much. there's multiple pathways that then branch out and then also loops around as well. so intricate that it seems like it's too much at times

you can actually avoid Godrick altogether to get to the north by going alllllllll the way around the castle to the east.

or finishing the dungeon gets you a path to the north either way.

Yess Boletaria is also one of my favourite Souls areas. Maybe I'm just a sucker for castles.

I thought it was meh tbh. Nothing i haven't seen before.

And those God damn birds make the camera bounce everywhere.

Fuck the birds. The place where you first encounter them though (theres 3 of them in a row) you can jump down the side of the castle all the way to the ground. Theres a very tight path guarded by some kinda dragon knight.

the birds arent that bad imo. if you are using a shield you can kill them really easy by waiting for them to do their big swoop attack and then block counter them, it will take off a big chunk of their health and also ground them

(admittedly i also found this out by accidentally doing it while being attacked and being reminded that was actually a mechanic in the game lol)

I use magic to deal with the birds. But yeah there's an even more annoying bird... well bats section later on where I truly developed a hatred for flying bastards. I just think it's so difficult to see what their attacks will look like and how they'll hit you. Just feels so counterintuitive
