3 scenarios:

You get your neighbor's mail.

You get the previous homeowner's mail who haven't forwarded their dang address

You get some complete total stranger's mail and you don't know why

Open it, rummage through it for gifts/cash, find nothing, throw it away (or burn it to hide the evidence that it ever existed)

But in seriousness, I think you're supposed to bring it to the post office so they can try to forward it to a new address.

also my mom also would write on the envelope and just put back in the box for the postman. not sure how that went.

1) Walk it over to my neighbor

2) If it is junk mail, toss it. If it looks like a legit letter or something important, return it to the post office. If it persists for much longer, then Id just start tossing it.

3) Same as #2.

I got a neighbors nudie mag once, they really missed out that month.

If it's for a neighbor, I'll just put it in their box. If not, I write a note on it that it is wrong or outdated address (or return to sender) and leave it in box. Post office can deal with it.

Used to do this and the postman would always just pick it up. Not where I live now though, so Ill still just write on the envelope but will drop it in the post office mailbox the next time I drive past there.

This isy every day hell at my last house.

Guy down the street had the same exact first and last name as me. Our house numbers were the same except the last two numbers were flipped.

I took him mail constantly. He claimed to never have gotten my mail.

If it's my neighbours I'll just go and give it to them. If it's someone else's I'll write a note on it and put it in the outgoing mail slot.

You should treat other people's mail the way you'd want them to treat yours.

Before our current house, we rented a house, and the owner has the same last name as us. My dad occasionally finds mail for him, which led to him calling the post office and telling them that this guy isn't related to our family.

Even after that, they still keep sending us his mail.

Take it to the post office and tell them what happened.

I think about the right thing to do, then I throw it on the table with all my other forgotten mail until I go through it a month later and throw it away. Unless it's a neighbors
