Is it as hard as D. Souls?

from what I hear, that difficulty does exist, but due to its open nature, you can explore and level up if a particular section is too difficult, and you can come back when you're ready.

I'm new to the genre and I have been doing a lot of combat against the smaller guys. There's just this one knight who keeps breaking my guard and I'm having trouble understanding reading his moves.

basically, you're gonna need: a character with a lot of stamina that allows you to dodge a lot, a ranged/or magic character, or invest in a tank character (uses big shields).

and I mean outside of just straight up skill.

edit: from my experience, at least.

Yeah, its almost identical to DS3, but a few extra tools at your disposal though, like jumping attacks and a counter on block. Its hard getting used to having jump thrown in there unless coming from Sekiro.
