Well, the thing everyone noted could happen is probably happening. Russia and China doing their land grabs at the same time. This was obviously planned.

Would for sure have required advanced planning by China for the timing, but given their accusing the US of the war in Ukraine and not even calling it an invasion by Russia... It makes you wonder.

This is a lot scarier than Putin wanting to take back Ukraine.

Not surprising. If China invades Taiwan, America wont declare war on China. They have nukes just like Russia.

The precedent has been set. Nuclear weapons are the ultimate deterrent. If you have them, you wont get invaded by another country.

Yeah, China has been doing this for the last couple years, and a larger amount of aircraft than reported today have violated Taiwanese airspace before. I don't think we'll see WW3 today.

Planes violating airpsace is not a reason to worry.
No, I would start worrying if China amasses landing ships and a large army on the coast opposite of Taiwan.

Economic sanctions from China would be much more severe. Russia sucks and we don't need anything they make except oil, and we don't really need their oil specifically.

China makes our PLASTICS more than anything else. Small plastic parts, toys, kitchen utensils, and just STUFF is made there, including alot of electronic assembly factories. We do have assembly factories in other places but small plastic and cheap consumer goods ALL come from China now.

In the past, it wasn't like that. You were just as likely to see MADE IN SINGAPORE, JAPAN, TAIWAN as CHINA.

That'd require a huge overhaul of how we produce, and half the country is locking horns with the other already.

Plus we're too used to cheap stuff from China, and it'd be as expensive or even more so for the same quality here. Dunno how viable that'd be with how pitifully low wages are compared to cost of living as is.

Bringing them back would end up making everything cost more. Of course, the workers would likely be paid and treated better than their Chinese counterparts, but the consumer wouldn't see or care for that; all they'd see is a price increase. Plus, less money going into the pockets of rich CEOs and shareholders.

It sucks, but that's the way it is.
