Raleigh, N.C. North Carolina State University and Raleigh police connected a car fire near Centennial Campus on Tuesday afternoon to a series of bank robberies two in Raleigh, one in Cary and another in Morrisville reported earlier in the day.

In an alert to campus, NC State police warned students and staff that two men wanted for bank robbery were on the run after crashing into an apartment building at 700 Centennial Parkway.

"[There is] nothing to worry about for the community, no evidence of anything other than bank robbers at this time," said Capt. Tim Tomczak of the Raleigh Police Department.

A helicopter from the state Highway Patrol and K-9 officers on the ground participated in the search, which included the woods behind the apartment complex.

Raleigh police responded to robbery reports at branches of Wells Fargo bank at 2005 Clark Ave., in the city's Village District, and 2016 Fairview Road.

Those branches are about two miles apart.Just before noon, police in Morrisville were called to the First Horizon Bank at 9632 Chapel Hill Road to investigate a bank robbery where thieves made off with an undetermined amount of money.

About an hour later, a Cary Wells Fargo, at 305 Colonades Way, was reported to have been robbed. Cary police said that someone demanded money but did not show a weapon.

It was not immediately clear how much money the men got away with.

No injuries were reported as a result of either the robberies or the car crash.
