Ohh, because I'm too pussy to google so I wouldn't know.

So like when I googled "Transsexualism" and that crazy robot chick in my neighborhood went crazy like "HE'S A TRANSSEXUAL!? OH IM COMIN 4 U MUHFUCKA"

Anyway, Were you promoted this offer? How did it present itself to you?

My new health insurance starts on the 1st of march. Family doesn't know despite the fact that I have breasts and have worn girl clothes and make up around them.

Any tips are appreciated. In topic is fine so any one else who needs them can see. Thanks

Oh. I don't even remember. I remember wanting to do girl things in grade school and younger. I found out sometime in my teens it was possible to transition and was going to do it when I turned 18. But then I thought I needed to live as a woman for a year and get a therapist and I didn't have the confidence or money for that at 18. Eventually I learned you could start transitioning without all that fuss, but figured I wasn't suicidal about it anymore so I must not be that serious over it and it was just a phase or a fetish. I even stopped cross dressing for a few years. But eventually decided it was what I wanted to do even if it might be a mistake later. I've been on hrt for a while now and I had laser hair removal and I am more comfortable in my body than I have ever been before. The only thing I hate is my voice. Over all I recommend transition.

How much did it cost you out of pocket? Any tips on voice training?

well it was about $300 both ways to travel by train (the cheapest option), and then all of the things i needed for my aftercare is probably into the thousands at this point, and you always need to have that stuff around (although it's much less after the first 6 months or so)

can't really speak to voice training, i think there's tutorials on youtube though!

In regards to voice training. I found it more beneficial to focus on resonance, cadence, and word choice.

Pitch is overrated when it comes to a feminine voice, but doing so singing warm ups/exercises will give you more control of it. NEVER USE FALSETTO FOR SPEAKING VOICE.

For resonance, I found using your hand along my chest to throat, to feel where it vibrated the most. For a "feminine" resonance, you want more vibration in the throat, almost all the way up to the back of your mouth is ideal. "Masculine" voices tend to resonate from the chest.

Cadence can be a little tricky. It's almost described as putting more air between words and sounds, and emphasizing certain vowels differently. I found it beneficial to watch / listen to feminine voices I liked and would do almost an impression of how they talked to practice. I found Miley Cyrus to actually be a good model for this, as her speaking voice is actually pretty deep.

Seriously, don't worry about pitch unless your natural speaking voice sounds like CORPSE or James Earl Jones. Even if it does, just tell people you used to smoke until you feel comfortable with it. Speaking of which, smoking is terrible for your voice.

I agree there are tons of great resources on YouTube.

A the end of the day, it's difficult to homogenize the human voice into only two categories, as there is plenty of room for variation. It's most important to speak with confidence and comfort.

You live in the US, right? I haven't done or researched SRS, but my understanding is that your insurance will likely cover it (possibly with some roadblocks and hoops to jump through -- e.g. you might need to get a letter from a therapist)

If there's other medical procedures you want like breast augmetnation or FFS, those are less likely to be covered. But it'd be good to look into the policies for your new insurance and figure out the specifics -- for example a lot of big tech companies do have insurance plans that cover a broader range of gender-affirming surgeries

The other suggestion I'd make is to start researching doctors and figure out who you want and whether it can work with your insurance/if you can afford other means of payment. there are a lot of tradeoffs to picking a doctor and it can make a huge difference for your results. Also, a lot of doctors have pretty long wait times. I've mostly researched this for FFS. It took me like 4 months to pick a doctor, and my surgery date is going to be about 1.5 years after my initial phone call to them (although tbf i picked one of the busiest surgeons in the world, lol)

Voice training:
IronBornCorps' advice is good. The most important thing is really just to stick with it, though. Try to practice every day, and get used to recording and listening to your voice. It can be really stressful at first, especially when you're trying a lot of exercises that sound silly. I'm still working on this, but these are the two main guides I'm using, plus lots of random youtube videos:

Yeah I'm not sure she's the best choice for that since her voice is only that deep because of how many drugs she did.

I used her as an example for cadence, not pitch. She is a great example of having a deep voice that still sounds feminine, regardless of how she got the voice.

What drugs give you a deep voice? I know smoking will give you a raspy voice but I should like a prepubescent boy when I talk and need some help.

My ex said I need better fashion sense. Apparently the purple sweater I was wearing today should be paired with jeans, not with the grey joggers I was wearing. I tried to explain today was my lazy day and I wasn't planing on leaving the house, but she said it didn't matter and I should be wearing a hoodie with joggers.
