That's the beauty of this game - the sidequesting and exploring with the tons of different party NPCs. Only downside is the massive pain in the ass that it takes to recruit party members each time to your party. You gotta go to their designated spot every time which is annoying I think there are only 12 chapters so my advice is to slow down on the story and do more side stuff / exploring with non-Elma/Lin party members. It'll help keep you leveled up too.
