i want to get a scope on how biden is doing. what could he improve?

Honestly it hasnt been terrible and the fact that we arent in full scale war mode (just yet) is a major plus.

Despite some criticism of how quickly the US has been to rule out the use of force, I honestly don't think the Biden administration has made any mistakes. I think by saying "It's a done deal" it's shown that it's spending most of its energy strategizing against the long-term consequences of a Russian invasion, while Russia still has to consider in some way the short-term consequences. It's not so much the sanctions that are the threat against Russia. It's provoking Europe into greater long-term hostility (Germany moving away from its dependence on Russian energy, etc).

And as long as the US public really doesn't want to get involved in a war, that's the correct strategy. Shoring up NATO, improving our diplomacy and military intelligence capabilities, generally ignoring Russia's demands. Sucks to be Ukraine but in a sense the less false hope we give it the less bloody it'll be, and there's even scenarios that suggest Russia is looking for an endgame where it withdraws.

The best thing the United States can do in my opinion is honestly to focus on boosting its own military and intelligence abilities and encourage Europe to do the same. What I have just said is a deliberate slight at whether Russia is "Europe".

Do like Clinton and Yeltsin, and just get drunk as hell together.

Im gonna guess I dont have nearly the knowledge of foreign diplomacy or whats going on behind the scenes to suggest any prescriptions to this situation.

A sharp hard lesson to Russia would get them to back down and check China's aggression. Unfortunately Biden probably doesn't have the guts and thanks to Trump isn't in a very good position to be handing out lessons.

Russia doesn't have the power, prestige, or charismatic leadership to bring the old Soviet Union band back together. Putin is going to crash their economy in the worst way possible. Hopefully his masters get tired of him and show him the meaning of the word defenestrate sooner rather than later. All Biden has to do is bide his time.

Unfortunately that means Ukraine will have to pay the price. Maybe a sharp, hard lesson from Biden would spare them, but I doubt Biden has the guts. Hard times ahead for many people in the west while China just gets stronger and bolder. If Trump had been a good leader we might be able to keep the suffering in Ukraine and Taiwan to a minimum, but he wasn't, so now China and Russia are thinking they are the badasses of the world.
