I have a weird Contra 3 story

I bought the game early and played it a lot with my bro - we got really good at it, like zero death very hard speedruns kinda good... but because of this I got bored

So, as a tiny kid where people would trade carts with each other all the time - I wanted to do a permatrade; A kid in my class had Mario Paint which would have been a pretty big upgrade to get.

But they cancelled... yet due to my brain problem I was obsessed with the original plan and ended up perma trading Contra 3 for... ... ... Joe and Mac

Joe and Mac was also great co-op fun, but my bro always disliked that I traded Contra 3 for it.

Then 10 years later I fried Joe and Mac by putting it on a Gameshark and then into an N64... I thought it might work :/

Turtles in Time all the way. (I don't think I ever actually beat it...)

Im a simple man, I see turtles in time, I vote for it

hard to pick between ZAMN and Contra 3. I went with ZAMN because it's longer and has a bit more variety. Both are incredibly good. Contra 3 some of those levels and sequences are just amazing. ZAMN the art style is 10/10, but the levels do get less and less interesting the further into the game you go.

really both games are doing things that have basically never been equaled, at least that I've seen (though I think I recall there is another Contra game made in the same style as Contra 3 that I really need to play.)

Personally I'm a big fan of shorter games that make the most of their time, and Contra 3, Super Castlevania, and Turtles in Time nail this better than almost any other action game. But ZAMN is such an unbelievably amazing experience that's a lot of fun if you use save states.

that's a good description of Contra 3 - it's a game you can plug in and FINISH in one go pretty much every time.

Indeed, especially if you use save states!

Out of those games, the only ones I've played are Super Castlevania 4 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time. I'm not sure which one I like better, especially since I'm not the action game type.

I've only done TMNT.

There is a little bit of love for Aladdin, but I got to wonder if the SEGA version is more well-regarded.

Giving your character a sword does not excuse bad music and gameplay.

i'll send some love to aladdin and addams family too, though. the addams family was a huge game, super easy to get lost in. i loved messing around and finding all the secrets.

I should mention that Hook was a pretty good game IIRC. flying around as Peter Pan was done pretty well.

I haven't played most of these, unfortunately, but I do love SCIV so there we go. Maybe I'll watch some runs of the ones I haven't played on Youtube.

I had the game gear version, and whole flying was fun the game was difficult

I wish movie games were as good as they were back then.

You don't fight anyone in the game, you just go through levels and dodge enemies, while eating the right food.

I have a lot of fun dodging enemies in the game, and I find the MC extremely fun in a campy way.

Ya, the SNES was peak camp - nothing could compare until maybe the DS.

I mean, it has oddballs like Radical Rex, and Chuck Rock, and Alfred Chicken and stuff

Yeah there's a weird sect of people who only ever played the genesis version and refuse to play the snes one who all parrot the genesis version is better when it's a genuinely bad game.
