Despite critics savaging yet another video game adaptation turned movie, Sony's Uncharted is overperforming with a 45M 4 day take when analysts were only expecting a low to mid 30s 4 day for the Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg film!!

Some rivals even think it could hit 50M by weekends end as audiences showed up in the primetime hours between 6-9PM

In comparison, Kingsman: The Secret Service did 41.7 on its 4 day take back in 2015

Audiences also liked it better than critics 88% vs 39% and cinemascore was respectable at B+ and shows a 79% positive score.

Tom Holland has been on a roll lately with his highest grossing film ever, Spiderman: No Way Home passed Avatar's US take with 772.1M and nearing 2B worldwide

Expectations cause "out performance".

Maybe they just made an original movie cause the characters look nothing like source material.

I completely forgot about that movie. It might even outperform their expectations again, since they're basing these numbers only on Friday night.

Uncharted seems like one of the few video games that would translate well into a movie format, simply because he was basically already a movie in game form.

Not surprising

It came across as a super-generic action/treasure hunt movie that rips off everything from Indiana Jones to National Treasure

Just play the games instead

My cousin is a huge Uncharted fanboy and even he said this movie was generic as hell. He says it doesn't do anything interesting or new, it's just by the book an adventure movie.
