It's a fairly popular and widespread platform, so getting your kid accustomed to it at a young age if you're a hunter, or firearm enthusiast has some merit. --- To be alive... to walk this earth... Considering that the AR style rifles are some of the most popular on the market. I learned with a Savage 22 rifle, because thats what I had at the time.
