same as topic title

2 weeks is pretty standard and I personally would recommend it. If you're higher up like a manager, they expected a months notice.

I get that some people have gripes with management and may feel like they don't owe anything after giving notice, especially since companies can let go of people without any notice.. But if you have a good relationship with your boss/company, its in your best interest to not burn bridges and have an easy transition on your way out as well.

I have two coworkers who are really young and pretty much gave a weeks notice this week. They performed really well, but didn't feel satisfied for several reasons and started looking elsewhere (there's a lot of potential growth in our company). I don't know if they are ignorant or just don't care, they they are screwing their coworkers. Like our team is scrambling on getting trained on stuff that they know and no one else does. And its going to take more than a week to get signed off on it.

I respect that they found another job and I'm not convincing them otherwise to stay, if they asked me to be a reference, I don't know if I can.

tl;dr: Standard notice of leave is 2 weeks if you are a non manager. You're not required to give a 2 weeks notice. It's just courtesy. But its recommended to not burn bridges and screw over your coworkers with something like a one weeks notice. Tread very fucking carefully. You might hate management, but don' screw over your coworkers, unless you don't care about burnin bridges.

A month seems to be pretty standard, going up to 3 as you get into management, in the UK. 2 weeks seems so short in comparison.

I hated my last job, but iirc I gave more than 2 weeks to try to be around to train a possible replacement. Tbh I didn't hate the people at all. Just did not like the environment

Depends on the circumstance. One time I didnt because they pulled deceptive hiring practice on me and my manager was an asshole.
