Every time there's a negative review of a game, the fans of the game or series get really ridiculously angry. Do fans of other media do this? Do movie and book fans obsess over every single critical review and harass reviewers? I don't know.

It's true though, gamers go completely nuts whenever a website gives a game a negative review. Or even a review that's positive but not a 10/10.

Because people are immature, selfish and self centred and think everything is an attack on themselves.

Even if he was lying, why do you care about him so much? He isn't even a professional reviewer. This video is four months old, and you're still angry about it.

Because people tie their identities to a product and think that any criticism of that product is a criticism of them.

How can you disprove the term "unforgiving"? Is there an objective "forgiveness" scale? A standard measurement of forgiveness?
How can you disprove someone not being able to anticipate enemies? Can you read the person's mind and prove that they did, in fact, anticipate all the enemies?

The problem is just so many dumb reviews. Like some dude will play a racing game, say "I hate racing games", then hit it with a 1. Just fuck off dude

God yes that triggers me the most. Or when the reviews are written in the easiest difficulty, and it makes you wonder who this review was even for when it's a genre only gamers are gonna buy. Like some reviews will say this or that mechanics sucks or this or that character/gun/etc sucks or whatever, when on higher difficulties, it might be that they're the most important and interesting part of the game. It's not a complete review in that case

Sure it's harder to write more accurate reviews, but reviewers should be held to a higher standard, or we'll keep getting absolute garbage reviews that ppl were actually paid to write.

Because they spent $60 on the game and want validation that they made a good decision in purchasing it. And some people that get way too into a game or fandom start to identify with it to the point where any criticism of the game feels like a personal attack. So of course they get defensive and potentially aggressive.

Negative reviews -> bad press > fewer sales for the game and less hype for the franchise -> lower chances of the game getting sequels

I mean, we do live in an era where people judge a game based on how much water it has, or a character looking at his wife's ass.

Plus most reviewers don't actually play a game through or pay attention to some game mechanics.

There are some with legitimate concerns like the reviewer being dishonest about the game or making up fabrications about it and then there are camps that just got pissed because it's a game they like/dislike and wanted to see it get the opposite score like it was a team sport or something.

I like how that one reviewer gave Cyberpunk 2077 a 7/10 (which isn't a bad review, btw), and there was this terrible amount of backlash against her.

now, everyone is like, "yea, it was a very disappointing game."

same with something like Twilight Princess, where an 8.8 was controversial back in the day, but now it wouldn't really be an issue.
