And just for good measure, I feel like his defense is purposely buffed when it reaches 25% because I swear to fucking god it's hardly moving when I still connect at him :(

Is there not some amusingly overpowered strategy?
I know that game really really wants to force you to play the dodge and parry playstyle but didn't they give you a last resort like Dark Bead or bleed weapons or all 3 lightning spears equipped or something?

There isn't because he's immune to everything and forget about parrying when he grows flapwings in his 2nd phase...only thing that anyone can do is always stay focused and don't take the foot off the gas.

It all comes down to speed and endurance because ironically for being the toughest mofo in the game, he actually isn't a cheapshot artist. Best way to beat him is study his timing, dodge, strike, repeat; and then rally head on if you get hit hard so you can recover HP back and save up your vials for the 2nd phase when he goes apeshit as well as staying far the fuck away from the beach. That's what works for me but his HP gets bigger with each playthrough and he becomes more tiring to fight against.

The overpowered strategy is know how to fire the gun and know the timing. Most of its moves can be parried.

I didn't get to fight him because PSNow doesn't have the DLC.

Personally I thought Bloodborne was the easiest FromSoft game (besides Demon's Souls ig), but that may be because I played it last. Having 20 blood vials is whack

If the guy's not able to do that though aren't souls games usually happy to offer alternate approaches?
in DS1 alone I can melee, magic, bow, attack from outside the room, summon, quit out, use throwables, havel's armor, no armor, bleed, poison and more until something works.

Its whack until you hit a wall somewhere and burn through all your vials and bullets without a clear.
