Bad take, Vietnam is cheap because the average salary is 6.1 million Vietnamese Dong (VND) per month or 277 USD/month.

Doesn't even have to be a megacorp.

Work for any privately owned business and unless you happen to be a higher up, you don't get a say in any of the decision making.

If there's no democracy in the place where you spend 40% of your waking life, how can there be any political democracy?

The fact that 1984 gets claimed by both capitalists and socialists, when in reality Orwell was a socialist and wrote it as an anti-authoritarian tract, exemplifies that.
