On the one hand, my understanding is that since 9S was so dangerous he was designed to be a cuckbot as a countermeasure, where he was programmed to lust after 2B but could never actually get laid. He makes explicit reference to the fact that he longs for the touch of human flesh but can never have it, which is part of what makes him go crazy.

On the other hand, there is a LOT of porn of 2B.

As a final note, I feel like I've given this game enough of a chance to say conclusively that it is not very good.

The word is censored specifically because 9S has conflicting feelings about 2B.

The story seems to hit very differently from person to person because it sort of masks what the CORE message is behind other messages. What's more, you kind of have to do ending E AND try to look at the game from a variety of angles for it to fully hit, and even then YMMV.

I actually consider NieR Replicant/Gestalt to have the better narrative, but Automata is a solid game. It's just that like all Yoko Taro games, it's definitely not for everyone.

I will say that the combat could have used more work in ALL playthroughs, unfortunately. Enemies are damage sponges on higher difficulties, which sucks, and the came could have used better weapon combo mechanics where you're actually rewarded for pulling things off (like... bonus EXP or something).

You apparently have to play through it like three or four time before the game gives you the "true" ending, something like how Chrono Trigger had multiple endings.

I thought the game was ok overall, great music but a lot of boring stretches

One of the most nonsensical games I ever tried to play. I enjoyed Nier Replicant for what it was though.

I don't think that unlocks the third character needed to get the "true" ending. (idk never played, just watched the Oxtra team talk about it)
