It's quite amazing how literally every politician ever somehow gets selective amnesia that makes them forget everything they promised during their campaign as soon as they get in office.

Wouldnt it take a Congressional bill to decriminalize it? So far, Democrats dont seem interested in creating such a bill.
Exit: a bill has been introduced, but Congress wont debate on it until Spring 2022.

Blame Congress for being paralyzed due to 3/5ths rule in Senate.

Pretty sure his presidency was doomed the day he entered by lack of legislative control. But pretty sure that would be the case no matter who is in the hot seat.

Can't really expect much if there's pretty much 0 chance to pass any legislation.

This is very true as well, if Biden had the proper tools and resources to push his policies forward he would have, his political career spanned multiple decades and at every step he has shown he has favored and supported policies that are beneficial people more often than not

Nothing came of that, it may as well have never happened. If Trump DID throw it out then you have an argument. Otherwise it was a manchild crybaby move and Biden still came in and did nothing to improve anything.

However it makes for excellent distraction and theater while the country falls apart, great move by dems. They can talk about Jan 6 for years to come anytime anything bad happens.

This is a thoroughly confusing and, quite frankly, stupid post

The election wasn't overturned on Jan 6, but it was still a legitimate attempt at a coup organized by people that are still holding positions in government. I don't see how you can say it may as well have never happened, acting like precedent isn't a thing. It happened, they faced no punishment, and the message is clear: "there's no consequences for attempting to overthrow elections, so just do it better next time"

Consequences are important. Sticking to your beliefs until it offends someone into action is childish.

Trump was an idiot. However idiocy is spending any more time on him and not current issues facing the country. Too many people have been radicalized that would be personally offended if what you said happened. Jan 6 was bad enough, reactionary actions would have been even worse with conviction.

I'm not saying I support anything he did that day on at all, I'm only saying an eternal focus on it is a pointless distraction for dem points like hilary emails for 2016 campaign.

I understand you want to look at policy, but the bar is way down to "unlikely to attempt to overthrow the election."

Clearly, the proper response is to just ignore the attempted coup and take no steps to prevent it from happening again. The people that tried to overthrow the government probably won't do it again if we all just agree to forget about it, right?

You fail to understand there are others that are 110% convinced you are wrong. So if you had full power you would go out and punish everyone involved with the full might and fury of government.

Doesn't this sound familiar to you? Haven't you heard of this before? It's the middle east, where a minority is attached by a majority power. There is a war going on for thousands of years between two sides that will never agree. If the entire country had your shortsightedness we would quickly descend into two groups fighting to the death because neither can see the other side. All that matters is you're right and it is everyone else that is wrong. You'll never stop, even for a moment, to think that others think the same about you.

The end result is no reconciliation occurs.
