no pretty much everyone stims in some way, usually unconscious reaction to stress. need a lot more than just this symptom to get any sort of spectrum diagnosis.

The younger generation are much more accepting of neurodiversity than older generations have been; that's why it's not something they find "shameful" in the same way affected people in previous generations may have.

And to be very fucking clear (because it appears you have to spell out every little fucking thing for the mods on this site or else they'll assume the most offensive interpretation they can think of, no matter how ridiculous their interpretation is and/or how easily anyone else could infer the actual meaning) - no, I am not saying it is something to be ashamed of, I am simply acknowledging that many people feel it is, without agreeing with that belief myself.
