Master is eldest and most experienced. Master is most technical and has extensive combos.

Ace is most overall capable. Ace would be balance and efficient.

Leader is shot-caller. Leader stats depend on teammate, but otherwise a weaker version of Ace if playing solo.

Guardian is the muscle. Your usual strong fighter with high durability and crowd control.

Weapon is the spy or assassin. Weapon is your usual faster, sneaky fighter with critical hit bonus.

Engineer is the tech inventor. Engineer has special gadgets such as barriers, shields, holograms, and drones.

Doctor is the bio chemist specialist. Doctor focuses on AoE, heal, regen, and status effects.

The only way I'd play a beat'em up with that much strategy is if you made it a cross between Streets of Rage and the RPG mechanics of something like Castlevania.

Team synergy is an option. All characters can solo. Would note solo Leader is simply a challenge version of Ace, but also invites co-op. Leader benefits more than other characters when teaming up.

I always choose thr most well rounded character. Love me some beat em ups. Kids these days dont know what theyre missing.

I suppose Ace would be normal mode. Master is pro mode. And solo Leader is handicap mode. Stat proportion would be very similar just at various levels.

Guardian veers towards strength and defense. Weapon towards speed and critical. Engineer for barriers. Doctor for AoE.

Leader, Guardian, and Weapon would be the base characters.

Ace unlocks after completing the game with every base character in the game.

Engineer and Doctor unlocks after completing the game under certain conditions.

Master unlocks after completing the game with every base and unlockable character.

Any gameplay ideas for DLC?
