I actually got a moderation reversed.

Posted a link to a live stream, topic was removed for spamming, mod accused me of advertising my own channel or something.

I disputed, it was reversed.

Oddly enough I didnt get a notification when it was reversed, only way I found out was a mod mentioned that it was discussed and ultimately decided upon by multiple mods that I didnt break the rules in a topic I made complaining.

Yes, but it basically only happens if you can do something like outright show where a moderator has said the kind of post is okay, or made the same kind of post themself.

Otherwise it'll get upheld no matter how ridiculous it is; the most blatant example being when I replied to a topic (made by someone else) that had a censor bypass in the title, having no censor bypasses in my post, and it got not only moderated, but upheld, and then upheld again by admin.

You might not have personally done it, but there was an entire topic of people pointing out cases where it had been fine; that mods have previously said it's okay; etc.

Ive had some that really shouldnt have been reversed and others that should have.

You definitely didn't get your banned reversed, did you LivingLegend/yourwisesage/buttsage.

I haven't been a mod for years, but when I was I had no problem overturning a moderation. I'm not all ego, if you can give me a cogent reason for the message to not be deleted, I'll overturn it and just move on with my life.

Often this would involve the user explaining a context that changes what I perceive the message as indicating. Or would reference some post like 30 posts away from the originally modded one.

Now from a user side, I don't even see a point in contesting a moderation. It's a battle I don't need to win.

I had a post about emulation deleted for "promoting illegal activity" and I linked to court cases proving it's perfectly legal and that still wasn't enough to get it overturned. Your chances of winning the lottery are higher than getting a moderation overturned.

A link to a post where a moderator talked about emulation would've likely gotten it overturned. That's where you went wrong. Although I will note it's fairly common knowledge that GameFAQs definition of "illegal activity" doesn't match the actual laws, it's more just "things we don't like that are illegal in some places or have connections to things that are illegal / questionable".

Because the site doesn't allow that discussion regardless of whatever legal loophole you tried to argue with. It's just not allowed here at all.

Let's not pretend that explicit judgements that something is legal are "loopholes".

"It's not allowed here" can still be valid despite that, but "it's illegal" is patently false.

I neither get modded enough, nor do I really care, to contest moderations at all.

A legal loophole? Okay. I guess Capcom is abusing a legal loophole when they released all those Mega Man Legacy Collections with the games running on NES and SNES emulators. Nintendo should take them to court and stop those evil emulators. Oh wait. Sony tried that in the 90s with Bleem! and Virtual Game Station and lost.

Nope, never, even when the moderators were factually wrong with plenty of evidence to back up my claim. Just made them madder and they would double-down on their mistake while increasing my punishment because how dare I.

So now I just use the dispute system to shitpost at the mods and count down the days until they permanently disable my ability to dispute at all because the function is literally useless otherwise.

Hell, if it were possible to send in a feedback ticket to request it be permanently disabled across both my accounts, I absolutely would, that's how much I don't care for this shitty system.

Maybe you should fix the rules then.

I remember one moderation that was hit for Offensive, despite it literally being an image that was hosted on GameFAQs' image gallery for that game.

Still upheld for "the game pages and the boards follow different rules".
