Here's the incentive: You get to leave your house and get paid at work. Should we also reward people for wearing seatbelts, not littering, and not committing crimes against other people?

I never said "be nice." I said maybe don't take the "yell and scream" attitude. So maybe just don't say anything about them at all. So many people on here can be major covid Karen's when the reality is that covid fatigue is real and the question of for how long and what specific covid precautionary measures can you actually get the public to buy into are fair questions to ask.

Also, people still do get vaccinated to this day. People are still getting boosted even. There's still many cases to this day of a family member dying of covid and the surviving members finally getting vaccinated as a response.

Of course, this is the board that will endlessly share stories like the guy who refused vaccination as part of a requirement for a heart transplant he needed to live. There sure are people out there who make terrible risk assessment decisions like that, but it is obvious what this board likes to focus on.

So with your idea of not allowing people to leave the house and work unless they're vaccinated how exactly do you think this will be enforced? Because if you manage to think about that scenario for more than a minute then I'm sure you could imagine it going all sorts of ugly ways.

I'll put it this way, a depressingly high amount of people have been victims of violence just for enforcing mask mandates. I doubt a "stay at home and don't work unless vaccinated" mandate would go down more peacefully. It is a very sad reality, but it seems true.

The options aren't yell or be nice with facts. You can also just say nothing which is something I would advocate for quite a few users on here, yourself included. I get not feeling like you could be calm or nice with them. That is 100% understandable, because anti vaxxers generally aren't pleasant people.

Just say nothing at all and don't worry about them so much. You aren't going to change their minds with aggressiveness. You can't entirely control other people. You can try a little bit though to influence them.

I accuse people of yelling and screaming who make insults or shame people. Typically people who straight up say STFU.

I can't show you what @AssultTank said, because the topic is no longer there, but he made tons of ad hominem arguments against me that I called out and he ran away and never responded to. Then he did something similar in this topic meanwhile accusing someone else of doing the same thing he did in that topic and is doing in this topic.

So yes, his posts were awful and I called him out on his BS. There is a line where I will say someone made an awful post.

Not to name names, but I've put a handful of people on ignore from this topic alone. If you argue in bad faith long enough then I will no longer deal with you.

Like I said, if you don't feel you can have a productive conversation with someone anymore then you should end it. Like with an ignore feature. I typically give people lots of chances, but it depends.

There is a big difference between mocking and pointing out the reality of someone's actions and the harm it causes.

You could tell an anti vaxxer that vaccines work and that if unvaccinated your are X times more likely to catch it and spread it to Y amounts of people and getting the vaccine also reduces your odds of getting sick, hospitalized, or dying by Z percent.

How do so many people on here struggle with telling the difference between openly mocking someone and making an argument about the wrongness of their actions?

The funny thing is, Fauci said either today or yesterday that we are nearing the end of covid being a pandemic level threat and can start dropping precautions soon or even now. This is where we are at.

The whole goal actually was to reach something of a herd immunity. It was stupid to just go for herd immunity without a vaccine as that leads to the most deaths, but here we are with a vaccine having been available for about a year.

There really isn't a ton more to debate. There is light at the end of the tunnel. There are going to be a ton more deaths over the next 2-3 weeks still, but infection rates have been dropping.
