several years. The new maximum base pay cap is $350,000 USD. We set specific base pay ranges for each job and level.

Amazon is tired of losing talent finally.

This past year has seen a particularly competitive labor market, and in doing a thorough analysis of various options, weighing the economics of our business and the need to remain competitive for attracting and retaining top talent, we decided to make meaningfully bigger increases to our compensation levels than we do in a typical year:

First, we're raising the base pay cap, which has been at $160,000 USD for several years. The new maximum base pay cap is $350,000 USD. We set specific base pay ranges for each job and level.
Second, were increasing overall compensation ranges for most jobs globally, and the increases are much more considerable than weve done in the past.

Finally, to better align newly promoted employees with the compensation range of their new level, we will now review their compensation at their promotion time and deliver in-year stock awards if needed to bring them into their new range, rather than only provide a base pay increase prior to the next annual compensation cycle.

As soon as I saw the OP title I knew you were talking about Amazon. Ive spoken to numerous engineers in recent months who were looking to jump ship because of the 160k cap. So this doesnt come as a surprise. The question will be how they will adjust current employees compensation and will that affect their equity as well.

Fucking disgusting that they have a cap like this when if someone were to suggest Jeff Bezos should have a CEO cap, that bald wraith would probably blow their head off then traffick their loved ones.
