All the other Sith Lords like Vader, Sidious, Tyranous made up completely new names.

Actually, is Maul his name? Oh maybe they dont bother if the name is already cool enough.

Reven and Malek weren't their original names as I recall. Revan took the name after he ran off to war, Malek was a nickname because his real name was lame.
