I only really care about the opinions of people who actually played it.

I picked it up, bit haven't decided of I'mma open ot or take it back.

I was super excited for it but I keep hearing there's crazy bugs and then that they're not that had. I'll probably like the game if the bugs are under control. Since I like the first. One my favorite zombie games.

How long do you have to return it? Hopefully they release a patch in the next couple weeks that fixes the major bugs being reported (that some, like you said, arent even experiencing).

Yeah. Honestly, the lack of guns isn't a positive for me. I liked the progression of it slowly going from being all melee to it being pretty much all guns. But it's not a deal breaker. Piss easy also isn't good cause I played on Nightmare on Dying Light and I already gotta go a step down on this one....

So far pretty good

I still hate weapon durability but there will be a mod some day

The parkour is fine- feels a little clunkier than DL1 but maybe once i have more levels itll be better

The city is gorgeous

Combat is the same old so far

Story isnt worse than DL1

No regrets, i like it for the same reasons i liked dl1

The review I watched the guy was showing combat vs human NPCS and literally all he did was side step their initial attacks, get a few hits, they'd do the same charging attack so he side stepped again... rinse and repeat, he wasn't touched. The human npc ai seems really simple and bad. It even worked against boss npcs. He said the Zombie fights get intense though because they zerg you.

The guns in DL1 were not optimal to use unless you bought the dlc that had the suppressed pistol. The suppressor pistol in the main game took rare ammo so it wasn't very efficient. Any other gun just attracted annoying virals non stop unless there was a section just for engaging with human npcs with guns.

You could use guns while on rooftops, though, without much problem. I definitely remember fighting those evil monsters that only come out at night up there with other randoms, watching each other's back and blowing 'em to hell and back with shotgun warfare. It's not always optimal, but damn if it wasn't fun(ny).

one more note on DL2: it feels much more worthwhile to go out at night. just cleared a bandit camp and good loot, and there are a lot of high value buildings you can apparently only really loot at night - but the risk is of course higher

I was saying if you wanted to use regular guns like the rifle just exploring the map it's annoying constantly having virals come after you nonstop and eventually run out of ammo. So the only guns you can use are suppressed, the gunplay was slow and clanky but I was hoping that could improve on that in DL2. Like adding a variety of weapons like Back 4 Blood or something not just generic pistols and rifles.

That's pretty cool. I dont remember staying out at night at all I the first because why would you.

I'll wait for bugs to be worked out and maybe some DLCs to come out. Loved the first but it sounds like it's been release in a poor state which is sadly common with AAA these days.

Yeah. Solo on Nightmare, it just wasn't even a thing youcould do lol. It's actually kind of odd that one my favorite zombie games is a game you do 90% of playing in the day.

so played 3 or so hours last night.

did hit a pretty annoying audio bug, all audio turns into a annoying staticy buzz. only fixed with a restart of the game, but came right back after a few minutes after restart. this was on a series s xbox, my series x didn't have this issue tho. also had some weird thing with enemies not showing up until aggro, ran into what I thought was an empty building to then being surrounded by magically appearing zombies.

gamesplay changes seem cool. I like the big lean into night exploring. In the first game I didnt fuck around at night until i leveled quite a bit.

feel like the combat is a bit better with some new perfect block shit to do. liking it so far, but does have some annoying bugs for sure...

Appreciate the feedback. I can put up with a certain level of bugs. Especially if it's not a game where you're supposed to be super engaged in the moment to moment like TLoU or Metal Gear Solid. If Im just out to gather or clear a building of zombies without lore dumps, it still sucks, but it's not taking me out of it. I might opennit later today

I'm only a couple hours in. I've had a few bugs pop up like screen flickering, issues with the survivor sense, some audio glitches, but nothing that has required a restart of my console.

It's fine so far and the moment I had the chance to run around and explore shit I did. I really feel like not having the glider and hook yet is making it slightly less fun so I'll probably beeline for those. I want to give it some more time before I start saying if it's good or not.

I'm playing on base PS4. Game looks great, runs very well, but it certainly has glitch issues. During the first section in the town, the guy I was following was straight broken. He would freeze his animation at the edge of a building and just...slide off it to the street below. Then he would do a weird jump animation and zoop up to the next building that he is climbing up. At one point he was just climbing in mid air on nothing. The dialogue cut out completely, but subtitles were still popping up. It was wild.

A lot of the time during combat, the zombies or people will just freeze in place. And the human combat is pathetic. Condemned 1 has better combat, and that game came out in 2006. They do the same two obvious moves and come at you one at a time. Parkour combat is cool, but it sometimes just straight up doesn't work. The controls overall seem...weird. I can't get the combat roll to work literally at all, I mash circle, I tap circle, it doesn't matter. It's clunkier and it feels like my character is fighting me to go against what I'm doing.

The game is good, but it's clear this needed more work. 20GB day 1 patch and it still has issues like this, I can't imagine what it was like prior.

Been having fun with it so far, the bugs for the most part are just dumb things like visual glitches (dead zombies suddenly standing up and t-posing and stuff for example), although the most annoying thing is that you can't use any of the skills if you change your keybindings since the actions for those are hard-coded to the default keys for some reason. Changed my crouch button from C to CRTL and now I can't do the safe roll -_- really stupid that that's how they did it, don't like using c to crouch so I'm playing with a controller instead for now until they fix that. Not an issue if you like/don't mind the default controls

As for gameplay, agreed with the night time being more fun than in the first one and once you get a couple of the parkour skills running around is just as fun as I remembered in the first one too

It took me so long to realize safe roll wasnt working because i rebound crouch to ctrl

You can still press 'c' to safe roll even with ctrl crouch btw

I'm enjoying it, I do wish it was a bit harder though. I almost feel combat wise I'm still playing maxed out Crane post DL1/Following.

I do miss the hordes though. The bridge in DL1 and the fields in The Following with hundreds of zombies is missed.

update on my buzzing sound bug. I was almost at the point of dropping the game for a bit. its happens all the time at night now, day seems fine tho.

probably will let this sit for a bit, don't wait to avoid night altogether like that...

Cause the first non regular zombie literally jumped off a building and killed itself on impact. I thought it was a glitch at first. But now Im wondering if there's hidden damage since I turned off visual health bars

I suggest you put the health bars back on. You can only stealth kill enemies that you are the same level as or higher than the enemy, which is impossible to tell when the enemy level vanishes with the hud. It's very dumb.

Neh. Ill figure it out. Those bug me waaaay more. I absolutely hate it and it takes me out the game completely. I know it's more action than horror. But it completely destroys any feeling of horror for me. Plus. Hopefully it gets harder. Cause on Hard setting it is way too easy in this beginning.

Also, there's so many settings that are gonna be implemented later on, I imagine. Like, you can't shut off motion blur? Really? Immersive mode still has 75% of the HUD, really? Hard is the hardest difficulty? Really?

I did encounter a pretty substantial bug, but there is a way around it. To avoid it entirely sure you activate a Metro Station after you arrive in Central Loop. If you fast travel back to the first area without activating a Station you basically have to do a big circle to get back.
