The number of covid patients in the Region of Vrmland (Sweden) has increased. On Friday 52 patients are receiving care, 9 more than the day before.

Three covid patients are in the ICU. Many of the admitted are primarily getting care for other reasons than covid.

That last line is very important yet they say covid patients and make headlines which are misleading.

I am not downplaying covid but the media need to stop fear mongering if they want people to keep listening.

Yeah. Here in the US they try to make it seem like the cops kill innocent people everyday, it's more like once per year.

The expression covid patient, at least in Sweden, mean someone who primarily is getting treatment for covid. If you are in hospital for something and happen to have covid also then that is a different thing. And with our covid spread being super high due to omicron but our deaths and hospitalizations due to covid are nowhere near what they used to be a lot of patients who need treatment for something and happen to also have covid will be a common thing. The media contradict what our medical experts say. So who is lying/exaggerating: the medical experts or the media?

unless you're elderly or have breathing issues it's rare for covid to ever kill you.

And they take up beds and resources that go to other patients

Ask any doctor or nurse why the health experts are lying about covid and they will roll their eyes so hard it might create perpetual motion and solve the energy crisis

Once again misinterpreting. Or perhaps it is my fault for not writing out things about our situation which dont apply everywhere.

The difference now from before is that the many patients are primarily being treated for something other than covid mean that they are getting care for something completely unrelated to covid, but happen to be infected with covid since the experts estimate that 50k to 200k Swedes outta 10 million have been getting covid daily for the past couple weeks but the very vast majority (even compared to before) get very mild symptoms. They are getting care for stuff like car accidents, heart attacks, etc etc and happen to have covid too.

Covid is now being taken off a special list called Samhllsfarliga sjukdomar (society-dangerous diseases) by the medical experts since the situation has changed drastically for the better due to omicron and a high vaccination rate.

Our experts ponder why the US is being hit so much worse by Omicron though. A sub-version of Omicron is common in Denmark and Sweden and both countries see high spread but much lower deaths and covid related hospitalizations.
