The opening ceremony is tomorrow and some of the events have already started. We had a decent topic going in the summer for the last Olympics so I'd figured I'd make one for this one.

Fuck China, fuck these corrupt games. China is essentially making slaves out of one of its minorities and this crap is just meant to distract from the fact that China has no human rights.

Opening Ceremony was a bit dissapointing. Despite it being pandemic I thought they'd do more. The "cauldron" at the end was also just a bit underwhelming.

I support the athletes that dedicate their lives to their sports.

It sucks they have to compete in China this time, and I hope people use this opportunity to shine more light on China's failings rather than it be a distraction.

I usually watch a lot of the Olympics but have zero interest in watching this sham

Been a lot of enjoyable events so far. The slope events have been really tough with a lot of failures as was the slope style events. But the winners still did great stuff.

Alright, who had effing Lindsey Jacobellis as the first Gold winner for the USA? Awesome.

A bit suprised it took this long for America to get a gold.

The Canadian women have been crushing it in hockey so far.

Russia and banned substances, a classic story.

Canada tied for second for most medals, but with only 1 gold they are listed down in 12th.

While we lost a couple of good gold medal opportunities (men's moguls, mixed doubles curling) our best events are still ahead.

Looks like Russia found a way to keep doing their athletes and get away with it.

Just make sure they're under 18.

Argh both Canada and USA out of men's hockey. Sad.

Without NHL players it was always going to be hard. Yes the other teams suffer too, but Canada/United States suffers a lot more.

USA basically choked that game away TBH in regards to Hockey.
They had so many power plays and even a 5 on 3 and couldn't get it done.
It was one of those games teams have where they do everything right but put the puck in the net and wind up losing.

I didn't get to watch the Canada game.

Went to bed after the first period of the women's gold medal hockey game.

Woke up to a result that was closer than expected, glad we pulled through though.
