Just pretend you're going to buy it. Which way would you go?

I'm looking for opinions on buying Dying Light 2. Here's the situation:

My brother lives with me and he gets visitation with his daughter (my niece) pretty often. His daughter is still pretty young (turns 6 in April), and she's terrified of zombies.

I'd like to buy Dying Light 2. I've got a PS5 and a Series S, and I'm trying to decide between the two. My niece makes frequent use of my PS5 to stream things and watch DVDs, and I told my brother that I'd buy the game on the Series S since it doesn't see much use while she's here. That way, she doesn't see the title card and splash screen and she doesn't get upset. Maybe it wouldn't upset her, but she's kind of tough to predict.

The Digital Foundry coverage has me second guessing my decision. The Series S has steady performance at 1080p and 30fps, but doesn't do a lot past that. The PS5 offers three modes, two of which my old TV could make use of (quality, which includes ray tracing at 1080p 30fps, and performance, which does 1080p at 60fps). It costs the same on both systems.

Supposing that you were going to buy the game, would you stick to your word and buy the serviceable Series S version, or would you let that go and just buy it on the PS5?

Buy it on PS5 for the performance if you really want that, then just make sure to boot up a bunch of random other stuff on the PS5 to push Dying Light 2 off the homepage anytime she uses it. I'm pretty sure it sorts by recently used.

That's a lot of work though and it sounds like she uses it enough that you don't always know she's about to go on it so I dunno.

I'd get it for XBOX, since your brother has concerns about it.

Or you could get an external drive, and move it to the external drive while she's there and then move it back when she's not. Talk to your brother about it, ask if that's an acceptable solution. It might require a bit more work on your part, though. If performance is important enough for you.

the answer is always PC, but you've already invested in the consoles

i'd normally buy it for ps5, but you made a promise to your brother. it seems pretty straightforward to keep it

You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.
