I have a self imposed limit I keep.

I use it as i got 0 dollars.

Less than a couple grand available to spend.

I've got severe debt. Our main account is currently 50 in the hole, and that's recovered from close to 300. We're drowning.

When I say Im broke, it usually means Im about to spend a lot of money on something. Im currently broke because Im going down to Florida to go deep sea fishing for a week.

If someone I don't know or like asks for money or to go out and do something I'm always broke.

If I have 1k in the account I'm too broke to buy a XBSX.

When Im broke that means I have tattoo or laser hair removal appointments that month.

I say it when I have less than $50 to my name

One of my housemates uses it to justify paying his rent late when I just know it means he's burnt through his paycheck for the week. However he has thousands in savings but hates dipping into it. Pisses me off

Idk if it's the same but I've been going to Christian charities twice a month for some groceries. They suck, but they make a turd

Being broke for me means that I gotta wait a bit to buy something that I want but don't need.

But my rent and bills are paid and I've got food and booze.

the most broke i ever was was between jobs really early in my career. had like $102 in the bank so they didn't start charging me for having an account open. Had $2,800 in credit card debt with a $4000 limit and $12k in student loans. That's my baseline for "broke".

My bank lets you overdraft if you arrange it with them. After a series of very idiotic moves in my early 20s I was like -$3000 broke, pay would bring that to like $-2700 but after bills and essentials the 3k limit would be hit again the day after.
