Why would they meltdown over a team name from a city they already hate? They'd more likely be the first to use "Commies" to refer to the football team.

Shouldve just kept it as Washington Football Team. It was a nice callback to a bygone era when teams simply used their city name to identify themselves. Commanders just feels like a generic create-a-team name, and that someone forgot the deadline was coming up so they came up with a rushed list.

So... the NHL has the Washington Capitals. The MLB has the Wasington Nationals. For some weird reason the NBA has the Washington Wizards.

The point I'm getting at being "why couldn't they reference they're in the US capital somehow like 2 out of the other three sports teams?"
