I was watching a gameplay video earlier, an he used some kind of consumable that kinda looked like an asthma inhaler which filled up the meter. Or, are there multiple meters to keep full?

The story and characters being bland seems to be just like the first game then. I'm mostly interested in the gameplay which is what got me liking the first game.

Well the day one patch is supposed to have "over a thousand" fixes so we'll see how that turns out. Hopes ain't high though, I was gonna probably wait on a sale anyway and the seems to confirm that being a good choice.

Man, I hope so. That is my most anticipated game of the year

The only reason this is notable is because the developers were out there hyping this up as almost like a WRPG with major choices and consequences and a good story.

It's not that. It's more of the same. So it's actually what was pretty much otherwise expected. The first game was reviewed similarly.

I couldn't stand Dead Island and nothing about Dying Light interested me much. So probably another skip from me. Open world zombie looter shooter is about as generic as it gets for a AAA game. I need something a bit more of a hook to draw me in.

I'm sure people who are looking for this exact experience will love it. It's popular for a reason. Although it might be better to wait for patches.

Dying Light itself is at a 7.4.

Critics rarely care if games are actually fun to play and focus on thingsI don't care as much about. It has to be extremely obvious that it's all about gameplay for them to not see gameplay as like the 3rd or 4th most important thing. Like Doom.

I also heard the branching paths actually make a huge difference. And your decisions have weight

Samey open world games that have a boring narrative often get 7/10 ratings. A lot of reviewers have played lots of games like it and don't find them fun anymore. Which is understandable.

Eh, maybe Ill agree when I actually play it. I just know from personal experience that there are a lot pf games that are fun to play that critic's couldn't help but just talk about everything but the gameplay. Then they'd have a puddle deep opinion on the gameplay and throw up your rating.

Plus, like I said, the first is sitting on 7.4. So, that should be the biggest tell for most people who really enjoyed the first. It's critics judging a game that's just an upgraded version of a game I already know I like more than them. If you don't like the first, I imagine it's a lot easier to blindly accept an overall critic score on a sequel. I can't imagine never getting that feeling of finding a gem that critics or regular people looked over tho. Plus, you guys are also hyperbolic on a not damning score to begin with. 7 usually just means it's not for everyone but some will really enjoy it.

Yeah totally. It's fine to not always have the same expectation as critics. I love certain games that are 7/10. Not every game needs to be some ultra ambitious blockbuster. Sometimes it's fine to just play a dumb game where you kill zombies and progress through a bunch of checklists.

Another factor is that a bunch of people reviewing it also are playing Horizon Forbidden West at the same time. Which is an open world game that ticks more boxes for critics compared to something like DL2.

Damn. The guy I seen said it was buggy, but he didn't get enough bugs for it to ruin his enjoyment. I actually might wait on it of it's too buggy. Buying a game day one you don't end up loving is way less frustrating than buying a game you want to play but the game fights you every time you try to enjoy it.

the devs said the day one patch would fix a lot of the bugs. hopefully they can deliver on that, unlike the story

It sounds like they really fuck up the ending. I'm listening to the Kinda Funny podcast and they all pretty much hate it. To the point where they overall enjoyed it but thought the final hour or so was a bummer. Also sounds like when the game got the most glitchy.

I havent watched or read shit about this game but if I had to guess, the stay alive thing in the title maybe alludes to the character being infected

I want to buy and like Dying Light 2. But blindly believing they're gonna pull that off is really ignoring the last decade of the game industry. That's not promising in the slightest. It just made up my mind to wait. Id rather not have it for a few days and have others test it out for me. Im a lil less loose with my money

That's actually a good sign to me.
Anyone play Forza horizon 5? That game got 9.5 and is STILL TRASH online. Months after launch and two patches later, fh5 still ignores the missing/broken pieces that previous instalments had perfect on their launch. They could've copy & pasted the code from previous games, but that would actually make sense.

I played a little bit of it last night on a PS4 Slim, got it early. I didn't really encounter any bugs, though I didn't play it for very long, maybe an hour, hour and a half.

The only thing I guess could be considered a bug so far was one instance of a zombie teleporting about a foot or so to the side. Didn't notice any frame drops but again, didn't play it for very long.

Was gonna do a bit of exploring but wanted to wait.

From some of the reviews I was expecting a broken mess, but we'll see what happens when I progress more later tonight after work.

Game Informer gave it a 9.5

No bugs so far

It's not cdpr or bethesda buggy

Only bug right is a weird flicker in performance mode that I thought was blinking and some weird animations.

Do reviewers have to finish a game? (Is this gamergate?)

7/10 is probably the lowest score they could give a game of this magnitude.

Same score as 2042 and nothing could be possibly worse than that game
