Hambo the Hog 02/01/22 6:26:57 AM #22:	It has its issues. The environments are kinda ugly, as everyone on the planet knows already. The cutscenes are awkward and lazy. The background music is good, but it constantly cuts out switching between regular field music, aggressive encounter music, alpha encounter music, and whatever else, so you'll rarely hear more than a couple seconds of the actual environment's track. There's other stuff to shit on it for. But I'm having a blast playing it. The methods of encountering pokemon are so different and so much less tedious than in traditional games. You can walk right up to the pokemon of your choosing and fight it. Or you can take a stealthy approach to catch it without fighting at all, or just to get in a free turn at the start of the fight. It's a little more like being in a world with pokemon and less of a slew of menus. The battle system itself is fresh and new. We're using the same moves, but they're reformatted to fit the new turn system which is a weirdly exciting fact. With fewer moves and effects and no abilities, it's not as deep as the classic system, but I don't mind. Idk dude it's fun. It's the pokeymans we know and love, but we finally have a new and different system to use to interact with them. --- I'm sorry, but 10,000 of ANYTHING on a PS2 would absolutely destroy your framerate. I just wish it had an extra year in the oven. You can definitely see this formula being built on and improved but Game Freak really needs that extra time. It also doesn't make the traditional format feel redundant or anything.
