I haven't watched 2010 (the sequel) in almost 20 years. I wonder if it would be better or worse than I remember it..

Probably The Silence of the Lambs, I never liked horror movies as a kid, but I've seen it eventually and the horror elements were really mild. Loved the story and the characters. But if I had to pick another horror movie that had stronger violent imagery, it would be Event Horizon, but that movie was very underrated.

The Thing

So many. Most iconic classics are iconic classics for a reason.

its almost easier for me to list the ones that dont live up to the hype for me like some like it hot or mr smith goes to Washington.

but movies like casablanca or The Godfather or citizen Kane or gone with the wind or Ben hur or any classic Kubrick movie.. they all blow me away every time I watch them

I didn't see most of Kurosawa's work until I was out of my teens, and I fucking love most of them.

i made 3 pretty big movie mistakes as a kid/teen.

we watched schindler's list in class and i remember falling asleep or just being bored in general most likely because of the lack of colors.

for movie afternoon our teacher recommended from dusk till dawn and even tried to reason with us but at the time anaconda was pretty hyped up in commercials etc. so most of us wanted to watch that instead...

also, we had a film class where we had to watch and analyze pulp fiction but at the time i didn't appreciate its hilarity and genius whatsoever.

schindler's list is now among my favorites and i could watch dusk till dawn and pulp fiction again and again.

I'd agree that filmmaking has come a long way but that not all of the way it's come is necessarily good.

I just watched this movie wednesday for the first time. I might have enjoyed it if scenes didn't run 15 minutes longer than they should have. They show a craft landing for 8 minutes. it slowly lands, cut to the cockpit and the pilot, cut to the craft landing again, cut to the pilot, cut to the craft landing, cut to pilot (he hits some buttons this time), cut to the craft landing. SO MUCH FILLER in this movie. This movie could have been 45 minutes if you cut out all of the drawn out scenes. The first 30 minutes is of those damn apes. easily could have made that a 5 minutes scene. Ruined the whole movie for me.
