The "fare evasion" thing is pretty much a non-issue. But if wearing a mask is mandated on the subway, then they should all be wearing their damn masks. I'd be pissed if I was on that subway and caught covid because of them.

It really is bullshit cops are able to break admittedly trivial laws and get away with it. Can't count the times I've seen a cop turn his lights on to blow a red light then turn them off a few feet later

Seen this a handful of times. Usually its to get by a traffic jam. And once theyre clear the sirens come off.

Yeah, it's shocking how cops here don't wear masks at all. Though honestly almost everyone here breaks the subway fare and no one gives a fuck. Makes me look like a damn fool for paying every time, hell I just paid a fare right now (writing this on the damn train) and saw two people causally hopping the turnstile with some MTA people staring at them and nothing happened. Lol

For the people giving the police a pass . This is the reason this is an issue.

Its pretty self explanatory. When black people jump the turnstile theyre arrested but cops freely break the same law and dont face any consequences

To people saying them not paying is no issue, yes it is if they just rushed the train and didn't pay. If the city or I guess whoever owns the subway made an exception then sure, but that is why more context here would be nice.

Ofc the irony of all this is the subway is publically owned and if they let the public vote on whether they should pay I bet they would vote they should lmao. Or so I assume it is, never been to NYC.

I say that the police not paying isn't an issue, because their funding comes from the same place (government funding). Making them pay would just be redundant.

And no, the subway isn't publicly owned. It's owned by the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA), which is a government agency.
