I mean, it's pretty obvious that his issue lies with the implication that one has the choice to simply live off the land.....which is clearly not an option since most land is either owned by the government or is privately-owned.

I don't know where cost came into play, but that's clearly not what he was talking about.

Post an example.

Well, in this very topic, we've seen the conversation pivot from "Capitalism is a fair system" to "Well, it doesn't have to be fair because life isn't fair so deal with it"

We've seen trolls in this topic suggest that all anti-capitalists live with their parents (even though I reckon most of us in this topic don't and a lot of anti-capitalist sentiment comes from people who have to pay their own bills and don't have the cushy lifestyle of their parents).

We've also seen several cases of people flatout misrepresenting arguments.

Ah, you don't share those opinions so it must be bad faith.

Bad faith (Latin: mala fides) is a sustained form of deception which consists of entertaining or pretending to entertain one set of feelings while acting as if influenced by another.[1] It is associated with hypocrisy, breach of contract, affectation, and lip service.[2] It is not to be confused with heresy (supposedly false religious faith). It may involve intentional deceit of others, or self-deception.

Some examples of bad faith include: Soldiers waving a white flag and then firing when their enemy approaches to take prisoners (cf. perfidy); a company representative who negotiates with union workers while having no intent of compromising;[3] a prosecutor who argues a legal position that he knows to be false;[4] an insurer who uses language and reasoning which are deliberately misleading in order to deny a claim.[5]

Do you have evidence that those users are lying and/or being deceptive about their arguments because otherwise it doesn't meet the definition of bad faith

And for what it's worth, I think the only person in this topic who seemed interested in a legit discussion and didn't display the typical defensiveness we see from liberal/neoliberal posters is @Nemu

And herein, a bad faith argument about the very concept of bad faith arguments.

Also known as "the bottom of the fucking barrel."

I'd say justifying the fact that a system is built to be unfair with the notion that life is unfair by default and that we should just accept it is about the clearest indication that the other person isn't seriously taking any criticism of said system to heart.

But at the same time, your post is in bad faith in and of itself because I can't imagine you're seriously interested in having your ideas challenged.

The problem with a good portion of pro capitalist in the US are also conservatives that claim to have a leaning on a particular faith or higher being.

Capitalism and religion just doesn't go hand and hand and most points from these people seem truly hypocritical.

Take for instance, Ron Paul, libertarian, long time congressman and a proponent of capitalism. I agree with tons of what Paul says, but then Paul has his issues in social areas and it stems from a moral outlook based on faith.

It seems like to me, these types have conflicting views because their very religious base counters their means of economics. This in itself makes no sense to me. Since a good majority of conservatives in the US are pretty much guilty of this, it brings forth fault in their arguments even when they have great points and counter points.

It's almost like the Jesus or deity they call their own is different from the one the book describes. In other words, they appear to be full of garbage.

But hey, that's me. Liberals have tons of issues in the states, but this one has always stuck out to me with the conservative right in America that spread the gospel of capitalism.

Second Thought actually put out a great video about how conservative politicians co-opted Christianity to gain support and loyalty from religious voters:
