Yeah it doesn't make a whole lot of sense why you'd put Ortiz in but not the other guys suspected of using PEDs.

That last tweet is inaccurate

Ortiz never tested positive. He was on a list that had more people than positive results when it was conducted, also that test was not very accurate as it could not distinguish between OTC substances and illegal ones. So it was probably someone just lumping him into the pile as he's always been the same stature/size and had the same hitting ability once he got a full time gig in the majors. He was fat and a power hitter, unlike Arod who was skinny and became jacked, or Manny who was chubby and then got arms that looked like a power lifter. Or bonds who clearly was on gear since the late 90s. Yes it was shitty that baseball profited off of these guys using rood's, but guess what? So did they. It's not like the millions upon millions of dollars they were paid vanished because of them not getting into the HoF. I would be thankful if I were them as atleast they didn't have their records stripped completely and then denied the hall as well. It doesn't help that Manny, Barry, Rodger and A rod were all assholes either.

This is what happens when voting is completely subjective and not really based on any specific statistical metric.

People not getting votes simply because they're not liked. Jeff Kent not being a Hall of Famer but Ryne Sandburg being in is an absolute joke.

Before getting outraged, it's important to take a breath and remember that none of this matters at all.

David Ortiz was just as guilty as Sammy Sosa, and Sammy never made it. In fact Sammy and steroids were two of the three factors that brought baseball back to prominence after the 94 strike. Any way you slice it, it's just not a good look. It doesn't actually matter, the outrage will go away whenever the new CBA is reached, but for not it will stay around since it's all baseball has right now.

I think people need to just stop placing as much importance on the Hall of Fame as they do. The voting process is obviously highly flawed, so until they figure out something new there's not much that can be done. Like Leper said, it's such a big thing right now because nothing else is going on in baseball.

Anyway, I don't really care about Bonds and Clemens and Schilling much anymore. Ultimately, I think they should all be in, but they're certainly not worth being outraged over.

The bigger sin is that it took Edgar Martinez 10 years because he was a DH but Ortiz got in first ballot despite being on the Mitchell report. While also being a career DH.
