100k is $8.3k a month

after taxes that is only 5.8k/month

after mortgage that is only 3k/month

after 401k, retirement and healthcare contributions that is only 800/month

after entertainment and other monthly bills, that is 0/month, leaving nothing for food, clothes and vacations (not to even mention other savings)

idk how ppl consider 100k a lot of money, that isn't even enough for me to live my bare minimum lifestyle

I'm doing just fine on $47K as a high school teacher.

Have a decent apartment, very little debt, over 40K in savings, etc.

It all depends on the cost of living in certain areas. I live in NC. I was recently offered a job in Fairfax, VA (a suburb of DC), at the starting salary of $60K. After calculation, I realized I would have less money moving and working there because the cost of living was so much higher so I stayed in NC.

It's also all about perspective. I grew up as poor as you can be without being homeless: welfare, section 8, food stamps, didn't have a bed until I was 18.

It really is not if you have to provide for a family, especially if you're the sole provider. It's actually just over broke

100,000 is a ton of money if you're on your own with no responsibilities, and its even more if you are living with your parents.

which is still a state in the wealthiest country on earth. And if you want to narrow it down to just the United States only about 10% of Americans are making over 6 figures.

High taxes and the fact that a 6 figure salary only makes you comfortably middle class in some parts of California is probably why.

Idk about this topic. I make about 80k a year and my bills break down like this:

Take home 5500:

Mortgage: 1200
Car: 800
Bills: 300
Savings: 800
Food:200
Misc: 200
Child support: 300

5500-3800= 1700 left

That's still a lot of money left per month. Granted it does matter where you live as house pricing and I live in a state with no income tax.

Things you can buy with $100,000
-multiple brand new cars at their maxed out specs or premium models from various dealerships
-a new house, fully paid for and no down payments
-you can pay for any university you want to attend to.
-buy various guns/have your own gun locker or build your own armory
-hire public maids/butlers to clean your house or do daily chores for you
-Have a secondary house that you can rent out to other people and earn passive $$$

You never have to worry about missing rent, you don't need to worry about living pay check to check, you don't need to rely on public transportation, you're effectively living the life at $100,000 a year.

or why even live in the United States at all? Countries like Brazil or Uganda are far more racially diverse.
