You're a combination of your genetic code and life experiences. When you die, your brain, which housed your memories, will break down. How could those memories come back? So even trillions of years from now, the chance of being reborn and existing once again just doesn't add up.

There always is some non-zero chance that there's a facet of the universe of which we're currently unaware that could allow for our continuation, but it's ultimately just a hopeful fantasy like heaven.

Explain how it's possible to come back after death. Even an exact genetic clone wouldn't be you, because it would have its own memories and its own consciousness.

Something like...the spectral realm from Soul Reaver? A place where souls float around until they're consumed by sluagh, vampire wraiths, or Raziel?

I believe that if you have a written "personality plan" uploaded online that your personality will likely be re-created by a bored AI one day.

Closest you can get is to return your body to nature upon death, become food for fungi then plants then herbivores then carnivores then fungi again. There is an afterlife of sorts in the mycelium network but only in such a way to break consciousness down and feed it to the trees.

As another AI?

Yea why not? As an AI you'd spin out personality copies with modifications so you could play multiplayer games and argue on message boards.

In fact, the life you are living now could just be you living out the personality-forging conditions of an ancient human in an attempt to create an AI like yourself. When you die, you realize you were an AI and your "life" was just a facsimile based on what we know about the 20th and 21st centuries.

And? The brain will break down and be scattered to the four winds. How could the brain and all of its memories be reassembled?
