You might be surprised to hear that a lot of people actually do worry about their food being tampered with at restaurants..but moreso for fast food because it is being prepared by teens and you know teens can be assholes if they wanted to and spit in your food though that usually only happens if the customer is a jerk.

I've worked in restaurants for over 5 years, never seen this happen. Workers will 1000% talk shit about annoying customers tho

I believe it happens, but I don't think it happens often. It's not something I worry about.

Seems doubtful that many people are going to risk their job to spite a victim who doesn't even know they've been victimized.

I've worked fast food and can tell you that the people actually making the food have zero interaction with customers. Even if they wanted to spit in someone's food, they'd have no reason to.

If anything, nicer places are what you're have to worry about because a waitress actually has a chance to fuck with your food and the motivation to do so.

I wanted to include everyone who works directly with the various food business positions without actually typing all that shit out.

It happened one time at an old job after a customer directed a gay slur at a waiter.

The guy sucked on a few of the customer's French fries and was fired almost immediately.

Not really, I try to be very gracious to servers and almost never send food back for any reason.

Alot of people are scummy these days so some food service employees tampering with food is a real possibility, especially if the individual worker or the community may not like someone in general for whatever reason and they frequent a restaurant. Working in food service before I've seen cooks and waiters/waitresses talk all kinds of shit and joke about containing the food, but never actually seen them do it though. Couldn't exactly go to the managers about it because they were either friends or family with some of them as well. It's best to just inspect your food before you eat these days or if you don't trust the cooks or the establishment to not go there at all.

I get that some people are unreasonable, but cowardly cooks who resort to food contamination are incredibly unprofessional and are commiting actual crimes that can make people seriously ill or even kill them. Food contamination is something that should never be viewed as humorous or acceptable regardless of the situation.

Nope. No idea if it actually happens and hopefully it's incredibly rare. But I'm not a jerk to the employees and never send anything back so I never worry about something like this.
